It would seem that the story of N.N. and Asi is simple and unsophisticated. But in fact, several lessons can be learned from it.
N.N. falls in love with Asya not immediately. He has an interest in heroine, which is different from other young women: she is honest, direct, impulsive. N.N. calls her weird. It is typical for him to be guided more by reason than by feelings, therefore the hero concludes: marrying a “seventeen-year-old girl with her temper” is in no way possible. Asi's confession does not change anything. can't answer feelings. He understands that he was mistaken when he loses his beloved. And yet the man does not believe that nothing can be changed. He thinks: “Tomorrow I will be happy!”. However, the next day brings disappointment: the girl disappeared. The hero is left alone for many years. He does not hope for anything, does not believe in anything. recalls the past with sadness, rereading old notes, and says: a feeling like that in his life will not be repeated. could be happy if he freed himself from prejudice. It might not be easy for him to stay with Asya, but it would be a life full of real feelings.
What can be said about Asa? Feeling for N.N. - for her is not just love. This is selfless love. Why think about the future if you can be happy here and now? Asya doubts that she is worthy of the love of “a person capable of achievement”, but cannot suppress her feelings. Despite the fact that the heroine is sincere and free, she is also doomed to suffering, because her chosen one is cowardly, and she is proud and did not forgive him hesitation. Therefore, the author tells readers: happiness cannot be postponed until later, and love cannot be subordinated to the rules.
